Learn How To Keep Pigeons Away From Your Business

Hello, my name is Victor Manning and my favorite pastime is gardening. I love everything there is about gardening including planting seeds, pulling weeds and picking the delicious vegetables out of my garden to eat. My joy of gardening started at a young age when I would help my grandfather in his garden. He showed me how to have a thriving garden and I've also picked up various tips myself throughout the years. I wanted to write a blog to teach others about gardening because of the enjoyment that I get when working in my garden. I hope that these tips and the information I've provided will help you to have a successful and bountiful garden.

Pigeons can not only be annoying due to the loud noises that they make, but they can also be quite destructive to buildings and vehicles due to their excrement. When a pigeon releases droppings from the sky, the items they land on are often damaged because of the fact that the droppings contain uric acid -- birds do not urinate. The acid can destroy many different materials including concrete, paint, wood, and even stone. If you have a massive number of pigeons constantly flying around your business, it is best to contact an exterminating company to get rid of the pests as soon as possible. The guide below walks you through a few of the ways that the exterminators can get rid of the birds.

Install Bird Netting

The first thing that the extermination company may do is install bird netting on the roof of your business. Bird netting keeps the birds from being able to land on the flat surface of your roof, which will keep them from being able to roost and lay eggs. The netting will not cause damage to your roof in any way.

Install Electrified Tracks

Around the edges of the building, such as on gutters or ledges, electrified tracks can be installed to deter the birds from landing on your building. The tracks will not cause any permanent damage to the birds. The tracks are designed for all weather conditions so that you do not have to worry about having them removed when it rains or snows.

Capture and Release the Birds

If the net and electrified tracks don't seem to be working, the exterminators can always capture the birds and relocate them to a safe place, far away from your building. If there are hundreds upon hundreds of pigeons, this option may not be very easy to accomplish due to the mass number of birds that would need to be relocated.

Deter the Birds with a Noisemaker

There are noisemakers that are designed to repel pigeons from properties. The noisemaker will not bother anyone who hears it because it creates a frequency that is only bothersome to the birds. The noisemakers can usually be installed quickly so you can start using it right away.

The sooner you can get the birds away from your business the better because every additional day that they are in the area they will be causing damage to your building and the vehicles parked outside of it. Getting rid of the pigeons can be a bit of a tedious job, but a professional will know what steps to take to get the job done quickly.
